Intern with ISIS
An internship experience of my own:
Hey everyone! I’m Natalie Treacy, ISIS ’s intern, a great experience
that I have had at my LTI is Sex::Tech 2009.
It was a two day conference, March 22nd and 23rd, held in San Francisco
at the J.W. Marriott.
The conference had about 400 attendees, in which I got to speak in
front of, and they were all healthy practice positive people who are
trying to make a difference.
From going through page after page of abstracts (similar to project
proposals) and calling organizations to get schwag for our bags,
making lots of phone calls, interviewing presenters and speakers, to
being in San Francisco and holding my own in conference session where
I had a dozen teens come and talk wit me about what I was doing at The
Met with my Healthy Practice presentations and HIV testing and about
what they were doing in their communities. It was all just so amazing!
Feeling apart of something great. Feeling like I actually belonged in
that exciting environment. Surrounded by hundreds of people with
similar passions!
And then having to come home… But at least I made a difference!
